I’m Brandon Templar, a photojournalistic wedding, engagement, & family photographer in Washington, D.C. I work with clients who crave candid & spirited images and want their photography to be effortless. My work focuses on the in-between moments, where our personalities peek through.
Weddings are a creative playground for me, to create stunning images of your unique day. I love all the big moments but in my opinion, the most beautiful moments are the candid glimpses between the big moments. My work strives to provoke that from my subjects, to create a beautiful and candid approach to your wedding day. My clients want to remember the way they felt, not all the goofy poses.
I love the LGBTQ community! As a member myself, I strive to create a safe space for all my couples to be themselves. I became a photographer because I was tired of seeing LGBTQ couples posed like they are siblings, or friends who happen to hold hands.
To make beautiful, intimate images of LGBTQ couples, photographers need to leave their traditional toolkit behind. So much of wedding posing relies on a masculine and feminine gender role. Specializing in LGBTQ weddings, I have photographed many community members. Visit my LGBTQ Weddings page to see a custom experience made for you.
Engagement sessions are a gorgeous session meant to compliment your wedding images. This session is an opportunity to practice for your wedding day, while scoring beautiful images along the way.
Surprise proposal sessions are a fantastic way for the proposer to book a photographer to capture the event and then have a quick portrait session following. A few hours later, you’ll have a gallery of beautiful images to share your announcement with the world.
My sessions encourage your family to be themselves. With a focus on having these sessions on-site, we ditch the traditional stuffy studios of our own childhoods. Instead, these sessions are focused on creating beautiful images of each family member, in their element.
